Would you like to be our new treasurer? Having been treasurer of the society since we started, Michael Muskett wishes to retire. If you are interested in considering taking over the position please contact Hugh Sturzaker (chairman) on hsturzaker@icloud.com

For several years the Society has complained about the poor state of the town with weeds growing everywhere, overflowing bins and litter in many places. We have discussed this with various officials at the Town Hall and found that many of the areas in the town are the responsibility of Norfolk County Council who have placed a contract with a firm in Leicester to deal with the weeds! It looks as though the work was not carried out.

The society has come to an agreement with Great Yarmouth Borough Council to clean certain Rows and Alleyways in the town. Already we have sprayed the weeds in the designated Rows and continue to litter pick and clean the Rows. We have also sprayed the weeds along King Street from the old Palmers to Christchurch. We have started cleaning the earmarked alleyways but because of the rain have not been able to spray the weeds here.

We plan to expand our work into other Rows and other areas of the town.

If you are interested in helping with these projects we meet at 10am each Tuesday on St. George’s Theatre Plaza unless rain is forecast. All equipment is provided. We finish at 11.30am with a cup of coffee or tea and a chat.
